Who We Are
Over 30 years ago, Carol Reed founded the award-winning firm of Carol Reed Associates, Inc., specializing in corporate communications, campaign consulting, issues and crisis management, event production and community initiatives. In 2008 the company became The Reeds Public Relations Corporation to reflect the firm’s partnership of Carol and her daughters, Laura Reed and Angela Shellene.
Reed’s career began in 1976 as political director for United States Senator John Tower (R-TX). Since that time Carol has become well known for her media training and message-development skills, and also for her entertaining oratorical skills. Her major addresses include national leaders at Renaissance Weekend in Monterey, California; National Executive Women Forum in Newport Beach, California; National Bond Buyers in Orlando, Florida; The Real Estate Council in Dallas, Texas; The Dallas Summit; and The Rotary Club of Dallas.
In addition, she has served on national debate panels and been a frequent contributor and moderator during televised election-night coverage. Interviewed and profiled many times, she has been featured in The Dallas Morning News, D CEO, D Magazine, Campaign and Elections Magazine, and was featured in Lee Cullum’s CEO on KERA. She is a regular source for and is often quoted in The New York Times.
Carol is the first woman to chair the Dallas Convention & Visitors Bureau, the Rotary Club of Dallas, and The Real Estate Council’s Fight Night.
The Reeds PRC is ranked as one of the top-25 public relations firms in the Dallas-Fort Worth area by the Dallas Business Journal. Carol was also named “The King Maker” in Dallas CEO Magazine, which went on to say, “In the hardball world of Dallas politics and bond elections, there hasn’t been a cleanup hitter quite like Carol Reed.” Most recently D CEO included her in its 2015, 2016 and 2017 editions of The Dallas 500: The Most Powerful Business Leaders in Dallas.

Someone who is driven is so determined to achieve something or be successful that all of their behavior is directed towards this aim.
While the other elementary students were playing tag, Laura was stuffing envelopes and attending campaign events. That’s what you did as the daughter of the Grande Dame of Dallas politics. Having grown up in politics she became driven to make her mark on the world at an early age.
After graduating from J.J. Pearce High School in Dallas, Laura was driven by sports. She earned a full scholarship to attend Radford University as a Division 1, NCAA soccer net-minder. She earned her degree in Finance and went on to play in the Nike League (the first semi-pro soccer league for women) until her athletic career was cut short by the onset of Rheumatoid Arthritis.
Soon after college Laura became driven by politics and public affairs. She ran financial compliance and scheduling for Ron Kirk’s first mayorial campaign. She served as Finance Director for Carole Rylander’s statewide reelection campaign to the Texas Railroad Commission and worked as a Legislative Aide for two sessions in the Texas Senate. She worked as a lobbyist for the City of Houston and Houston Metro among many others.
Following these stints with several high-profile political campaigns and ten years at the State Capitol, Laura moved back to Dallas and joined her mother and sister to lead The Reeds PRC Governmental Relations and Campaign Management divisions. In addition to her work on the firm’s issue campaigns, Laura spearheads the company’s public-sector practice, which assists individuals and business in their relationships with government entities and the public.
Sometimes, when you’re driven, you end up on a bus. Laura’s campaign work landed her on Willie Nelson’s bus at Farm Aide with spreadsheets and budgets in hand. But, through the haze, she discovered she prefers her own bus, “Ollie”, a classic 1975 VW bus – which she has driven for camping trips across the country. And when she camps it’s in a tent, on the ground - no water, no electric, no cell service. It’s what being driven is all about.
Laura is a graduate of Leadership Dallas, serves on Dallas ISD Superintendent’s Advisory Committee, and is a member of the Dallas Assembly.
Angela Reed Shellene
Angela Reed Shellene leads the event and program management division, in addition to assisting with many of the firm’s community initiative projects. Angela has years of experience working with corporate and nonprofit organizations to produce events, press conferences and programs. Currently, Angela helps manage the Dallas Mayor’s Educational Programs including the Mayor’s Intern Fellows Program, Mayor’s Back to School Fair and Mayor’s Summer Reading Program.
Angela also oversees the production of news conferences for the firm’s clients. Some of her most recent high- profile media events include the Bank of America Plaza Relighting, Perot Museum of Nature & Science Groundbreaking event and the unveiling of the logo for The North Texas Super Bowl Host Committee for Super Bowl XLV.
Tim has over 30 years of experience in Texas politics and campaigns across the nation. He has served as chief of staff and legislative director for several members of the Texas Senate. For more than 10 years Tim also ran the Dallas office of The Eppstein Group – one of Texas’ most prolific and successful political consulting and polling firms. On the side, he has owned and operated several other specialized political consulting firms over the past two decades.
Tim’s campaign management and consulting experience includes all levels of campaigns from local to legislative to statewide races coast to coast. His expertise has been called upon to oversee successful city and school district bond elections across Texas, as well as numerous Tax Ratification Elections and large initiative and referendum efforts including collective bargaining and meet-and-confer for police and firefighter associations. Tim also consults directly with government agencies on public education awareness programs and public relations projects.
Tim specializes in polling and opposition research, as well as messaging and targeting. He oversees all polling operations, targeting and voter analysis, copywriting, and creative development and production for The Reeds PRC.
Tim grew up in New Mexico, and is a graduate of The University of Texas at Austin.
