Laura
Reed Martin
In
1991, immediately after graduating with a business degree from
Radford College in Virginia, Laura Reed Martin went to work for Carol
Reed Associates (predecessor to The Reeds PRC).
Her first assignments? Orchestrating fundraising strategies and
events for political campaigns, corporations, foundations and
not-profit groups.
Nice first job.
Among her most notable achievements for Carol Reed Associates
was serving as finance director for the history-making campaign
that elected Ron Kirk as Dallas' first African-American mayor.
Her success caught the eye of Carole Keeton Rylander, who tapped
Laura to serve as finance director for her statewide re-election
campaign for Texas Railroad Commissioner. The opportunity also
introduced Reed to the political environment of Texas' state capitol,
Austin, where she continued to work for nine years.
In 2002, Reed was named deputy campaign manager for Ron Kirk's
U.S. Senate bid. In this capacity, she served as a key political
and strategic advisor and was responsible for the day-to-day operations
of the campaign.
Returning to Carol Reed Associates in 2004, Laura took the helm
of the company's Campaign Consultation division. Today, as The
Reeds PRC, Laura also manages the Issues and Crisis Division,
work that weaves through the firm's entire service menu.
